It’s worth mentioning to our beauty and wedding vendor community that online features from substantial publishing companies such as BRIDES, Forbes, Martha Stewart Weddings, etc. can be removed after a period of time. In some cases, the original website link remains active but is updated to push out newer content on that same landing page.

There’s actually a name for this: link rot—when links that once led to valuable online content no longer take you to the original information. Unfortunately, for small businesses, this means we can lose those credentials and pieces of our history if the individual features aren’t properly saved. I’ve had to learn this the hard way!

Our beautiful destination wedding at Dromoland Castle in Ireland was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, BRIDES, and Style Me Pretty—and today, we only have one active article left standing. For our team, these features also document years of providing bridal hair and makeup for destination weddings and the incredible places our work has taken us.

In an effort to better preserve our online presence, I’m now taking screenshots of published articles along with the associated publisher and feature details. I’ve included my tips at the end of this post for the best ways to save your most meaningful online features before they disappear. If you’re a fellow beauty professional or wedding vendor who has been fortunate enough to have your work published, I hope this little lesson helps you protect those pieces of your history, too!

As an established destination hair and makeup artist, I had the incredible opportunity to travel from the U.S. to Ireland for a wedding day that is truly saved in my memory bank. One of the most memorable parts of the experience was creating bridal hair and makeup at Dromoland Castle—and getting to experience the grounds, accommodations, gardens, and everything in between. Nestled in County Clare, Ireland, Dromoland Castle is an incredible wedding venue and consistently recognized as the world’s best resorts.

From the grand architecture to the views of the surrounding Irish countryside, how can you disagree? Dromoland Castle has a presence that’s hard to put into words. The history and character of the property can be felt throughout the grounds, creating a setting that feels both elevated and timeless—and an unforgettable backdrop for a destination wedding in Ireland.

But it wasn’t just the venue that made this wedding unforgettable. Maybe it was the experience of getting completely lost in the castle hallways while trying to make my way back to the bride for touch-ups. Heck, we even captured the corn maze in real time!

Beyond the castle grounds, the Irish countryside was every bit as beautiful as I had imagined. The countryside itself seemed to have leapt straight off the pages of a storybook. Rolling green hills, old stone cottages, winding roads—it was one of those places where you find yourself looking around and trying to take it all in. There was something incredibly peaceful about it, and against the grandeur of Dromoland Castle, it created a setting for the wedding that felt intimate despite just how impressive the surroundings were.

The experience didn’t begin with just the wedding day. The bride and groom also planned their engagement session at the Cliffs of Moher, and I was lucky enough to be part of during our time in Ireland. I left Dromoland Castle incredibly grateful for the experience—not only for the opportunity to contribute to the bride’s wedding-day beauty, but for everything that came along with it. The castle hallways, the gardens, the countryside, the corn maze, and yes, even getting lost along the way. Ireland and destination travel captured my heart, and this weekend celebration will forever hold a special place in my memories as a hair and makeup artist.

How to Preserve Your Online Features Before They Disappear

Start with the original article while it’s still live. Save a full-page PDF of the webpage—not just a screenshot—and make sure the publisher, article title, URL, publication date (when available), and your business credit are included. I also take screenshots of the most important portions of the feature as an additional backup.

Go to File → Print in Chrome, or press ⌘ + P, select Save to PDF. Open More settings, turn Background graphics ON, and save.
Yes! The Wayback Machine allows you to submit a live URL to its “Save Page Now” feature, creating a dated snapshot of the webpage. This gives you an independent archived version to reference if the publisher later removes the article or replaces the content at the original URL.
Keep the publisher name, article title, publication date, original URL, archived URL, and copies of your PDF and screenshots together. I also recommend noting exactly how your business was credited in the feature. Years later, those little details become surprisingly important.
Don’t assume it’s gone forever. Search the original URL through the Wayback Machine to see whether an earlier version of the page was archived. If you no longer have the URL, old emails, social media posts, website backlinks, or even the original article title may help you track it down.
Create one dedicated press archive for your business and use a consistent naming system for every saved feature. I like the idea of organizing each one by year, publisher, feature or wedding, and business name. The goal is simple: years from now, you should be able to find the article and the proof of your involvement without depending on the publisher’s website to still exist.
