Middleton Place

As wedding hairstylists and makeup artists there isn’t much that will surprise us. We’ve witnessed awkward moments, crazy insane times, but most importantly we’ve experienced some of the coolest, most thoughtful stories that are worth telling friends and family.

A past-time in particular deserves a post all on its own. Even if it is three years later!

Our bride Sahra booked Beauty Asylum for her wedding dat Middleton Place in Charleston. Before we could being talking hair inspiration and details she told us she had a specific request for her wedding day hair. Sahra used to shave one section of her head a couple years prior. The left side used to be shaved underneath while the top section of hair was longer and laid over the shaved area. The year Sahra was engaged she decided to let her hair grow back unknowingly her beau would soon propose. Once they were enaged Shara decided to continue to let her hair grow back to give her options for various hairstyles.

Sahra’s fiance loved the shaved part of her head, but he didn’t say anything when she decided to grow out her hair for wedding day. When Sahra came to us she knew she wanted to shave the one side of her head again as a surprise to her fiance during their first look. She even selected a hairstyle that would hide the shaved section.

On wedding day our Charlotte hairstylist Michelle traveled to Charleston, SC for wedding day. She packed her clippers and planned the perfect updo style to mask the shaved section. Our idea was to use a braid to cover the area that was shaved so he wouldn't have a clue.

This is such a fun and creative way to incorporate a braid for wedding day. Check out his reaction below! He most certainly did not see it coming.
