Our Favorite Braided Hairstyles for 2017

Most people look at the New Year as a chance to start over new. You may not have been in the same boat I was in at the beginning of 2017. We can say the start to a New Year means many things, kind of like a reset button. For me (and Beauty Asylum) this means the launch of new looks, new trends-- pretty much new everything. As industry professionals we try to predict which hairstyles will stay and which styles will go for the season. It was most certainly stuck in my mind that braids would be on the way out and less trendy, but the 2017 year proved me wrong and brought braided hairstyles back stronger than ever.

Let's take a trip down memory lane and explore our favorite braided hairstyles from our top wedding hairstylists in Atlanta and Charlotte.

This last hairstyle has a unique story to go along with the hairstyle choice. Our bride Sahra used to shave one side of her head and over the years she let her hair grow back to normal length. Sahra knew how much her fiance loved the shaved look of her hair and on wedding day she had our hairstylist Michelle secretly shave it so she could surprise him during the first look. The idea was to use a braid to cover the area that was shaved so he wouldn't have a clue. Based on his reaction he most certainly did not know what was coming. Wait until you see his reaction when she tells him!  What a fun and creative way to incorporate a braid for wedding day! You can check out their picture story below from Sara Bee Photography.
